Description
Maritime piracy has plagued our seaways since trade began. Today this crime has once again unleashed itself on the maritime industry putting seafarers lives at risk. Waters around Somalia and Nigeria are of extreme risk, while the Asian waters still remain an area of concern.
Seafarers continue to be on the receiving end of this crime, which is also of great concern to the owner and operator as it endangers their greatest asset – the crew and vessel.
More than 75% of trade is carried out using the sea lanes. One of the biggest dangers of piracy not being understood, accepted or faced is that it will eventually affect the safety and security of a major link in the supply chain.
The ICC - International Maritime Bureau (IMB) is holding a one day intensive course on Piracy, aimed at not only sharing its knowledge but also providing a meaningful and practical response to dealing with this crime on both an operational as well as management level.
The course is aimed to benefit Masters, SSOs, CSOs, DPAs, and Senior Management. Insurance Companies, Chartering Houses, Brokers and Traders will also find the course of interest giving them an insight into the world of piracy.
